Mangoes do come in every summer season but due to early summer this year mangoes are seen in every corner of the street specially in India. It is still the season for raw variety but for our surprise we can find vendors selling yellow mangoes claiming they are fully developed. Easy guessing these are artificially ripened mangoes. One can understand by the taste of the mango. Artificially ripened mangoes looks yellow in color but are often not sweet. Such mangoes are unsafe for you. There are chemicals which are used to ripen the mangoes which causes irritation, rashes and might harm the body in long run. Ripened mangoes can affect the gastro-intestinal tract, the kidney and the liver. There effects may not be seen immediately but later on you may face problems like irritable bowel, soft stools, etc.
Doctors do recommend seasonal fruits because they do contain the exact amount of nutrition required by the body. For example melons are melons are recommended by Doctors during summer season as they contain high water quantity. But when it comes to artificially ripened fruits they do have very low quantity of nutrients and such fruits are not beneficial or useful for us.
People who are diabetic, who are suffering from obesity should specially avoid out-of-season fruits because in natural fruits we can trace the amount of nutrients present in the fruit and its calorie content but in artificially ripened fruits the nature of the nutrients or the sugar may differ when compared to the natural fructose and a varying quantity of calorie can be seen. It becomes tricky to maintain the patients dietary needs..
So be careful this summer season when you buy mangoes. Try to pick medium-sized mangoes which look natural and have pleasant smell

Summer is considered as the ideal season for those who want to lose weight by doing workout or exercise. This is because besides body effort by exercise the hot waves during summer both together raise the body temperature. This leads to an increase in the rate of blood flow through the skin, which causes decrease in the supply of blood to the muscles which in turn increases body temperature. Such situation causes more amount of burning of calories favoring in loss of weight. The body gets warms up quickly in this season. Besides this the scorching heat and rising temperature during summer naturally drives the interest of the individual towards liquid diet like drinking of water, fruit juices, coconut water, etc., rather than the regular diet which causes decrease in weight.

Physical exercise should be started in a planned manner. The person should take doctor’s advice before starting of exercise. As the body keeps getting adapted to the surrounding temperature slowly the weights should be increased. One of the common misconception among people is fitness can be maintained by doing exercise for only these 3 months and can take rest for the rest of the year. However one should try to attain maximum benefits in summer. During exercise one should keep drinking water at regular intervals even though if he/she does not feel thirsty. There can be an increase loss of sodium, potassium, chloride because of excessive sweating. The loss of these minerals can be covered by drinking of sports drinks. Coffee and alcohol decreases the water level in the body. Because of this one may get tired soon during exercise. So say Good bye to these drinks. Try to avoid doing exercise in the afternoon and better do it in the early morning or evening hours. If someone wants to do exercise during afternoon hours he/she can do walking in fitness centers, shopping malls, to avoid scorching sun.

If someone faces problems like headache, weakness, giddiness, vomiting, fever, very much increase in the heart beat, etc, then he/she should immediately stop doing exercise right at that moment and should take rest under shadow. If the affected individual did not get back to normal state within 30 minutes then he should immediately consult a doctor.

At last do remember one thing. Every season is the best season for exercise but for fat loss summer is pretty much favorable. So get ready for summer workouts.

According to recent research done by Iranian researchers drinking of very hot tea may cause throat cancer. Previously it was found that people who consume lot of tobacco and alcohol are at higher risk of cancer associated with oesophagus and drinking of burning or very hot liquids increase chances of such tumors. Researh has revealed that drinking of very hot tea of above 70 degree celsius of temperature increase the chances of throat cancer when compared to drinking of agreeable degree of heat of less than 65 degree celsius.

Golestan is one of the 30 provinces of Iran and this region is among highest rates of throat cancer but surprisingly the smoking rates and consumption of alcohol is very low. This lead Reza Malekzadeh of Tehran University and his colleagues to study about the concerned disease in that region. They found that almost everyone of that place drink black tea regularly drinking almost a litre every day. They studied the tea-drinking habits of about 300 people who are affected by oesophageal cancer and another 571 healthy individuals from the same region Golestan. They found that people who drink tea within 2 minutes of its preparation when compared to those who give a gap of four or more minutes are at five times more risk of cancer. According to British studies they found that people prefer drinking of tea at an average temperature of 56 degree to 60 degree celsius.

Oesophageal cancer is a kind of tumor which occurs in the oesopagus a muscular tube which is the passage between the pharynx and stomach through which food passes.

But researchers said that it is not clear how consumption of hot tea may cause throat cancer but they gave an idea that damage to the lining of the throat by heat may initiates it. It is already found that oesophagus cancer kills almost about 500,000 people every year worldwide with majority of the disease occuring in Asia, Africa and south America.

Earlier it was reported that Asians do have an enzyme deficiency which may lead to oesophageal cancer when they drink alcohol.

1. CHOLESTROL-
If the concentration of cholesterol in blood exceeds the normal level then it may lead to increase deposition of fat leading to heart diseases and paralysis. One can easily know his cholesterol level by undergoing blood test. We can know the low density lipoprotein level (LDL) and high density lipoprotein level (HDL) by test. If LDL concentration is more then fat may get deposit and increases the risk of heart attack. So LDL is called “Bad cholesterol”. HDL wont allows fat to get deposited in the blood vessels so it is called “Good Cholesterol”. More of HDL and low amount of LDL is preferred for health. So women who crossed 45 years of age and don’t show risk factors should also get check up for cholesterol test every 5 years where as those who show risk factors should undergo test every year. Women who are found positive for diabetes and Blood pressure should also undergo cholesterol test. The children belonging to families suffering from “Familial hypercholesterolemia” should also undergo cholesterol test for every 2-3 years.

2. DIABETES-
If the blood glucose level exceeds the normal level it leads to diabetes. It occurs because of decrease secretion of insulin by pancreas or because of improper usage of insulin by muscles, genes present in fat.
Diabetes is of 3 types-
Type 1 diabetes which is usually seen among children’s, teenagers.
Type 2 diabetes may affect anyone of any stage.
GESTATATIONAL DIABETES occurs among women who are pregnant. Because of this reason pregnant women should undergo diabetes test between 20-22 weeks of pregnancy.
It is also recommended for every woman to undergo diabetes test after crossing the age of 45.

3. BONE DENSITY TEST-
Women who crosses 50 years of age are commonly affected by osteoporosis. The test used to detect osteoporosis is called bone density test. It is a diseased in which there is loss of bone mass, due to loss of calcium and few related minerals. In India among women who reach menopause are more frequently affected. Menopause leads to lack of estrogen production which in turn leads to this disease. Women who are lean and women whose family has a history of osteoporosis are at more risk of this disease. Osteoporosis is seen in 50% of women who crossed 60 years of age and 90% who crossed 80.
It is very easy to detect osteoporosis through bone density test. The patients who are affected by osteoporosis and suffer from severe pain in bone are tested by bone densitometer (desk scan) around back bone and hip bone region. Osteoporosis can be prevented by regular exercise, by consuming foods which contain high quantity of calcium like milk and milk products.

4. POPSMEAR-
The test used to detect cervical cancer is called pop smear test. Cervix is a part of uterus. The chances of cervical cancer are more when compared to other types of cancer. In addition to it, it is possible to detect cervical cancer during pre-cancer stage where as it is quiet difficult and almost to detect prostate cancer during early stages. Note that it may take about 10 years for a pre-cancer stage to change into cancer. Normally most women undergo pop smear test routinely whether they do or do not show risk symptoms.
It is must for every woman who crosses 25- 30 years age to undergo pop smear test every year. Pop smear is a simple test which doesn’t involve any pain. Normally the test is usually called screening test and diagnostic test.
In western countries women who are in reproductive age and those who are actively involved in their sexual life keep undergoing pop smear test.

5. MYELOGRAM-
The test used to detect breast cancer is called myelogram. Myelogram is like making an X-ray of breast. If the breast cancer is detected in the first stage then it can be treated even with mastectomy (removal of breast). The time duration for this test is about 5-10 minutes and it don’t involve any pain. Women who crossed their 40 should undergo this test every year and those who have a family history should start undergoing this test as early as 30 years of age. Myelogram is not a screening test. This test is strongly recommended for women who have a family history especially from the maternal side. Sometimes women who are detected with cervical cancer are also advised to undergo myelogram test.

6. COMPLETE BLOOD PICTURE or BLOOD COUNT-
The test used to count RBC, WBC and platelets is called complete blood picture. It is quiet common that Indian women suffer from loss of blood. Moreover because of menstruation women lose about half liter of blood every year which is equal to 2 times of blood donation. That means even though they do or do not donate blood they lose a lot of blood in the form of menstruation. Test is based upon the deciliter of hemoglobin. Normally 11 mg/dc – 16 mg/dc is normal. Along with it, it is also useful to detect other types of blood cells like eosonophils, basophophils, neutrophils etc. Even the platelet count can be known by blood picture test.

I hope this information is useful especially for women.

The mineral magnesium is a strong antioxidant and at the same time very essential to life. This antioxidant keeps us young and healthy. Even small deficiency of magnesium can dispose us off from a healthy life. Deficiency of magnesium leads to nausea, muscle weakness and irritability which are most common symptoms of magnesium deficiency.
The absorbability of magnesium unfortunately decreases as age progresses and this is the reason why magnesium deprived animal’s shows symptoms of premature aging. Moreover long lasting low levels of magnesium increase the risk of arrthymias, clogged arteries, heart attacks, high blood pressure and insulin resistance leading to diabetes. So magnesium is very important for regulation of heart beat.
In fact the survival chance of heart attack patient mostly depends on magnesium level. Normal level of magnesium increases the survival chance of a heart attack patient. Recent research says that people who take high magnesium level are less than half as likely to suffer from cardio related disorders like heart attacks, chest pain, and surgery of heart, when compared to those who take low magnesium diet.
Magnesium reduces the risk of heart attack by preventing clotting of blood which clogs arteries which in turn lead to heart attack. Thromboxane is a substance which makes blood platelets more sticky making more vulnerable to clot formation, magnesium inhibits release of thromboxane.
Mitochondria the powerhouse and energy factories of the cell if gets damaged then they are unable to create energy which lead to declining functions and causes premature aging.
Diabetes is mostly characterized by decreased magnesium use. Many diabetics have low levels of magnesium. Even the non-diabetics if they don’t take sufficient amount of magnesium can make them more exposed to insulin resistance. A recent study shows that people who take magnesium diet are at 25% greater risk of insulin resistance.
To prevent degeneration of bones magnesium works along with calcium and vitamin D. 400mg of regular magnesium intake is advised to prevent high blood pressure.
Nuts are one of the main sources of magnesium. By consuming nuts at least 5 times a week one can reduce the risk of heart attacks by half. So try eating 7-10 almonds a day. Other rich sources of magnesium include legumes, pumpkins, cashews, peanuts, walnuts, oats, soybeans, leafy vegetables, banana, and whole wheat.
At last I just want to say you should not age prematurely simply because of magnesium deficiency.

FOR PREGNANT WOMEN-
For every 1000 pregnant women 8 suffer from heart diseases. During pregnancy scanning is done during 18-20 weeks of gestation. In this all the four chambers of the fetus and the blood vessels coming out from these chambers are tested. It is a primary test and if any problem is detected then fetal echocardiography is done. We can know the exact cause of the disease by fetal-echocardiography. In general one of the most frightening confusion among pregnant women is “If there is any need to terminate pregnancy if any heart related disorder is detected?.” The answer is a strict ‘No’. In a lot of cases the disease can be treated. For example the hole present in the interventricular septum gets closed by natural means. And if any serious problem is detected then Doctor’s will surely let patients know about it.

IN GENERAL- If the rhythm of the heart gets disturbed then that condition is called arrhythmiasis. If the heart rate gets decreases then it is called Bradycardia or Brady-arrhythmia. It may occur because of decrease secretion of thyroxin by thyroid gland. Tachycardia is the condition when the heart rate increases above 100/minute. Looking at the condition sinus tachycardia has been classified into 3 types-
Sinus tachycardia – Increase in the heart rate because of sino-atrial node.
Junctional tachycardia – Increase in the heart rate because of AV node.
Ventricular tachycardia – It occurs because of the response from ventricles.
Fire like these disease are getting oxygen by diabetes and high BP.

Because of this reason two new techniques called Uterine Balloon Ablation Therapy and Insertion of hormonal uterine device (LNG-IUD) has been developed. In uterine balloon ablation therapy a balloon is inserted into the womb through vagina with the tube which don’t requires any cuts or stitches, and thus helpful and safe even for diabetic, high BP and patients suffering from kidney related disorder.

Because of this lining of the womb gets thinner and thus it prevents womb from growing. There may be complete stoppage of menstrual bleeding, and is suitable for women who as already completed there family. The patient will be discharged within short time and she is allowed to resume her normal day life from the next day itself.

Within 2 minutes it can be placed into the uterus and it don’t even requires anesthesia. It leads to stoppage of bleeding for about a period of 5 years and at the same time it can also be used as a method of contraception in women as the women can’t become pregnant while the device is still inside the womb. This device can be removed any time and is an excellent option for women who do not want to get pregnant or who do not want to remove their uterus.

It’s not just fatty foods that contribute to bad cholesterol, stress can increase your cholesterol too. Stress leads to excessive secretion of adrenaline, thyroid and kidney hormones, which in turn leads to cholesterol, thickening of arteries and heart related diseases.
Many medicines too increase cholesterol level through there side effects. Beta blockers, diuretics, some contraceptives, anabolic steroids and corticosteroids (used in treatment of asthma, rheumatic disease) are known to increase triglycerides or bad cholesterol. These drugs should be strictly taken under doctor’s vision.

Psychologically people who look good feels good so it has become more common in well-to-do classes to go for body contouring.
Food substances rich in calories and people who work mostly while sitting are developing fat, which has both physiological and psychological effects.
The fat cells increase in number from birth till the person attains maturity, then it becomes fixed afterwards. Enlargement of these cells is responsible for appearance of bulges.
People usually perform dieting or works out at gym to reduce these enlarged cells but friends don’t forget there are 24 hours in a day and 1 hour of working and 23 hours of rest cannot reduce these cells. It makes a more radical lifestyle change.
Bulges can develop anywhere and in any shape and can enlarge the cheek, chin, neck, arms, upper back, abdomen, hips and buttock, thighs and legs and may bound tightly or loosely.
Body contouring comprises liposuction, which is essentially removal of skin-fat wedges. After the reduction of bulges, a lift may need to be done for sagging tissues.
Liposuction involves removal of fat cells from a given area which reduces the bulge. It is done mostly by using 3-5mm metal cannulae attached to a source of suction. Small cuts are made and these are passed into subcutaneous tissue. With a series of to and fro movements the fat is removed from the connective tissue.
This leaves a sort of honeycomb of connective tissue spaces. Prior infusion of Klein’s solution which is a local anesthetic reduces blood loss and facilitates removal of fat. Most of the people go for liposuction of cheeks, neck, arms, abdomen, hips, buttocks and thighs with satisfying results.
The secret behind most of the famous six packs is fine-tuning and SCULPTING, a technique where the skin is made to shrink along a fold by liposuction.
In few cases people also do body contouring surgery like abdominoplasty which removes ellipse of skin and fat from lower abdomen. Similar kind of surgeries can also be done for arms, inner thighs and buttocks.
In few instances after a crash weight loss programs, the skin becomes loose and sags down in many areas of the body. The commonly affected areas are back, buttocks, abdomen, thighs and breasts. In such situation surgery removes the skin and gives a ‘lift’ to the affected part.
Note that body contouring is not done for weight reduction but it is done to get a proper shape. Ideally, one should not go for whole-body liposuction and should focus on one or two problem areas.

People do think only smokers are at risk of disease but many don’t know that people who live in surroundings of smokers are also at risk of diseases. Passive smoking is not a matter to be brushed off. Toxic chemicals in tobacco smoke hurts children far more because their bodies are still developing. Children who are subject to smoky environments have great chances of getting “GLUE EAR”, where the ear gets filled up with glue-like fluid instead of air, which may lead to partial deafness.Ingredients like tar, nicotine, carbon monoxide, arsenic and hydrogen cause asthma, chest infections, cough cold and wheezing in children. They have an increase risk of meningitis and reduce resistance to childhood illness. So make sure that one must avoid sitting in smoky environments and people should also avoid smoking in public places.
